Black Kite

Challenge
In the crowded third-party cyber risk management category, dominated by risk ratings, assessments, and similar-sounding promises, Black Kite needed to define what made it different. It had plenty of strengths. Our challenge was to look across its capabilities, identify what truly set it apart, and distill it into an idea that customers could understand and care about.
Insight
It took time to connect the dots. What emerged was Collective Resilience: intelligence gathered across thousands of connections makes every organization in the network more resilient. The very connections that expose companies to risk can also become a source of strength. Cyber risk moves through connections. So should defense.
Solution
To bring Collective Resilience to life, we found inspiration in an unexpected place: the underground network connecting trees in a forest. We called it the Wood Wide Web. It gave us a simple, powerful metaphor for Black Kite’s network: connected organizations, made stronger together. The forest became the creative platform for Black Kite at Black Hat, extending across film, booth design, apparel and campaign materials.
Outcome
Black Kite’s many strengths came together in one clear story, with a distinctive visual world to match. We turned an invisible cybersecurity network into an experience people could walk into, making Collective Resilience something they could understand, remember and associate with Black Kite.
